Product privacy
Privacy at Speakshot.
This page explains the data boundaries in the Speakshot macOS app and Speakshot Cloud, operated by SOFTWARE OBJECT PTE. LTD.
Local Raw mode
When you are signed out and have not configured an optional REST endpoint, speech recognition runs locally on your Mac. Audio, transcripts, screenshots, and clipboard content are not sent to Speakshot Cloud.
Optional REST polish
If you configure your own OpenAI-compatible REST endpoint, Speakshot sends transcript text to that endpoint for cleanup. It does not send audio or screenshots. Your chosen provider processes that text under its own terms and privacy policy.
Signed-in Cloud mode
When you sign in, Speakshot sends the temporary audio recording needed for cloud transcription. The resulting transcript may be polished by the hosted text model. Screenshots and clipboard content remain on your Mac and are never uploaded to Speakshot Cloud.
Account and billing data
Speakshot uses passwordless email authentication. Account sessions are stored in the macOS Keychain and may be revoked server-side. Stripe processes payments, subscriptions, and billing details; Speakshot stores the identifiers and subscription status needed to provide your plan.
Retention and logs
- Temporary capture files are removed after completion or discard.
- Speakshot does not intentionally log transcript text, screenshot bytes, clipboard data, or credentials.
- Cloud usage records retain the word counts and request identifiers needed to enforce allowances and prevent duplicate charging.
Your choices
You can sign out at any time to return to Local mode. You can remove your optional REST configuration locally. Subscription changes are available through the Stripe customer portal in the app.
